Manuela is a filmmaker, artist and nature lover. She studied Anthropology and graduated from the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba,  in Directing for Fiction and Documentary. 

Manuela has received three grants from Colombia's Film Development Fund (Fiction Short Film Production, 2011, Documentary Project Development, 2012 and Documentary Full-Length Film Production, 2016). 


She wrote and directed the shortfilm CINCUENTA (Festival of the New Latin American Cinema, Havana 2012, Huelva International Film Festival 2013) screened in 11 countries around the world.  She wrote and directed LAS BROMELIAS (Reéncontres de Toulouse 2014, São Paulo Short Film Festival 2014, Winterthur International Short Film Festival 2016). She, her father and her sister played in the film as themselves. Her first feature, DE NIRO IS NOT MY DAD*, a 90 min. documentary, is now in postproduction.
